Software Engineering

AI / Agent Engineer

Remote (EU hours) Full-time

Salary

€9,000–11,500 gross/month, depending on experience

VakogAI is a software development house that works at the bleeding edge of technology in our day-to-day — agentic coding, AI IDEs, and more. We design and build scalable digital products, AI agents, and software solutions by combining AI with our own internal toolset and a proven delivery methodology, helping businesses launch far faster than traditional approaches allow.

Our biggest strength is our people — their skills, mindset, and ownership. We bring together talented professionals who enjoy solving meaningful problems, learning from one another, and building software that creates real value for our clients' businesses.

We work closely with our clients and each other, keeping communication clear from start to finish. Everything we ship meets production-grade standards and is built to be genuinely enjoyed by the people who use it. We're looking for talented, experienced people for whom great work is part of a life well lived.

What you’ll do

  • Design and build production AI agents — orchestration, memory, tool use, and human-in-the-loop checkpoints — on frameworks like LangGraph and Strands, running on AWS Bedrock and AgentCore.
  • Ground agents in client data with retrieval over relational, vector, and graph stores; keep that retrieval fresh, relevant, and traceable to its source.
  • Build the unglamorous layer that decides whether an agent survives production: evaluations, observability, retries, guardrails, and least-privilege access.
  • Work end to end with one team — from scoping with the client to shipping, measuring, and supporting what you build.

What you’ll bring

  • Strong TypeScript/Node and/or Python, and real experience taking LLM or agent systems beyond a demo into production.
  • A feel for where AI genuinely creates leverage versus where plain, boring software is the right call.
  • Comfort with AWS, CI/CD, and production concerns — cost, latency, security, and failure modes.
  • You treat “does it actually work?” as a measurable question, and you care about evals and observability.

Nice to have

  • Experience with building the Model Context Protocol, working with vector and graph databases (pgvector, Neptune, Memgraph).
  • A background in a regulated domain (fintech, healthcare).
  • Experience with AWS SageMaker.

What we offer

  • Fully remote, async-friendly, EU-overlapping hours.
  • Real ownership of projects — not tickets in someone else's plan.
  • Senior peers, modern tooling, and a budget to keep learning.
  • Extra vacation, and work that reaches real users and stays running.
